Bavarian XR Start-ups present themselves at Tech Days 2020.
During Tech Days, Munich became a hotspot for founders, entrepreneurs and creatives in cyberspace. Innovation managers from the corporate world mingled with digital natives to exchange their views on ongoing transformation, new ways of creation, organizing or accelerating innovation.
Due to the coronavirus Tech Days 2020 took also place in a digital format. The program was, however, like in the previous years during the physical event, an interesting mix ranging from political statetements to keynotes, workshops and start up and arts presentations.
The Opening Statements were held by the Bavarian Prime Minister Dr. Markus Söder, the Federal Minister for Digital Affairs, Dorothee Bär and the Bavarian Minister for Digital Affairs, Judith Gerlach.
A number of Bavarian XR-starts took the chance and presented themselves – here they are in alphabetical order:
Cyan Planet is building a global platform that connects people with the ocean through immersive media to spark action in support of marine conservation.
We leverage the empathy-building, educational, and connective power of immersive media to achieve marine conservation goals. We produce immersive media for education and outreach, create enhanced virtual training tools, increase marine organizations’ capacity for communication, and encourage audiences to build a deeper connection with the ocean to facilitate action for conservation. Our aim is to directly inspire users through the experiences we produce, while also supporting institutions through partnerships to provide access to immersive media tools.

We solve teleportation – bringing a person to a remote place without having to actually go there. By remote controlling a humanoid robot through an operator suit, the robot copies the motion of the human operator. Applications range from remote, over handling of goods in clean rooms to caring for elderly or contagious patients. We aim to win the ANA Avatar XPRIZE, the world’s largest robotics competition with a 10m$ prize purse. We’re one of only two German teams among 77 qualified teams globally and we need your help to win the price and put Germany back on the map.

Devanthro GmbH – the Roboy Company also gave a talk on the topic „Uncollared: Seeing the Future of Work Like a Robot“
Artificial intelligence and increasingly intelligent robotics are starting a displacement in service jobs, amounting to 70% of our workforce. Many of these jobs don’t rely on physical labour anymore and automation of these white collar jobs follows a different pattern than what we historically know from blue collar automation – which is largely underestimated. Largely, the solution to this has been to look to reskilling. But what potential pitfalls are there in relying exclusively on reskilling, and are there alternatives? Anthropologists Lora Koycheva and roboticist Rafael Hostettler provoke us to see the future of work like a robot.
Higher realities sell dreams.
